PROJECT TITLE: RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF SMART TECHNOLOGIES
FOR CHARGING IN SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY

PROGRAM: Strategic cooperation projects

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The research and development of a modular system of different technologies is proposed, with artificial intelligence algorithms for the recharging and replacement of battery packs for light mobility, in order to be able to carry out the maximum range of vehicles, users of electrical storage batteries, and that can be recharged with clean energy generation devices, and with the capacity for intelligent management of said energy for the optimization of its use and therefore, maximum conservation of the environment and sustainability.

Summary of initial project objectives

The initial objective of the project is the study of the development of intelligent battery charging stations for electric vehicles, with the aim of optimizing energy management in urban environments and overcoming the limitations of range of the batteries. A modular system is researched and developed that combines various technologies and artificial intelligence algorithms to efficiently recharge and replace batteries. This will allow you to maximize the range of vehicles, reduce charging and waiting time for users, and minimize environmental impact.

Results obtained

The project has allowed the development of a versatile station, capable of serving both light vehicle and automobile batteries, offering ultra-fast charging, inductive charging and battery swapping as alternatives.
This development includes the implementation of demand optimization and prediction algorithms at the station and the design of an energy management system.
The validation has been done through a prototype of the station and the visualization of the data generated through a management platform developed for the system.

Differential value compared to other alternatives on the market

The differential value of the Cleanergy station is that it allows the selection of the type of recharging between different technologies and that it allows the recharging of various types of batteries. In addition, the possibility of battery exchange and the data collected by the platform allow predictive maintenance of the batteries and optimization of their useful life.

Commercial interest and proximity to the market

The station allows for rapid replacement of batteries, which solves one of the main challenges of electric vehicles: recharging time. This facilitates the adoption of electric vehicles in urban environments, where speed and convenience are crucial. The proximity to the market is high, since they align with the trends towards sustainable mobility, Smart Cities and the reduction of emissions.

Contribution of partners and/or contracted entities

Within the objectives of the consortium, Itera has developed the battery exchange technology and the Frontend of the platform and the user APP for its management.  V2C has implemented fast vehicle charging technology, with the contribution of the Polytechnic University of Valencia for the development of energy management. ITENE has designed the induction technology part, while Nunsys has focused on the development of algorithms for estimating the health status of the batteries, the design and development of a secure architecture, the Backend and the Platform APIs. Next has collaborated with the tasks of advising and defining specifications and validating the final prototype.
